Carlton Vet Surgery - Vet Dr Helen Wilson

Helen graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2007. After completion of her course she headed out into rural Victoria to work in a busy dairy practice. After spending alot of time working in the rain on a windy South Gippsland hillside and getting up at 3am to do the first calving of the day, Helen moved to Melbourne to commence an internship in Emergency and Critical Care. She spent 3 years working in emergency and completed her membership exams to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Surgeons in Emergency and Critical Care.

In 2014 Helen started working at our sister clinic in Brunswick Central. She loves getting to know her patients and clients on a longer term basis, as well as having a special interest in emergencies.

Helen can now be found here at Carlton 3 days a week and looks forward to meeting you and your beloved pets.

Carlton Vet Surgery - Dr Stella Broderick - Veterinarian

Stella graduated from Melbourne University in 2003 and entered small animal practice, completing a Master’s degree in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Murdoch University, WA in 2008. Stella enjoys the challenges of, and variation within, veterinary science. In 2013 she took on the Head Veterinarian role at our sister clinic, Essendon Vet. Prior to that she had a two-year stint of world travel and UK locum work.

In her spare time Stella is likely to be found socialising, running or kayaking. She also enjoys travel, snowboarding, yoga and dance.

Stella has two adorable cats - Gus, formerly known as Fungus after the terrible case of ringworm that led to his adoption, and Lily. Stella also yearns for a dog (or 6). Her husband vowed to love whatever four-legged pet she brings home. It will be interesting to see how that unfolds.

Carlton Vet Surgery - Paula Van Meeuwen - Practice Manager & Head Vet Nurse

Paula joined the Carlton team in 2017 as our Practice Manager. She is a qualified Veterinary Nurse and is most passionate about surgery and anaesthesia. She grew up surrounded by furry friends and it was her love of all animals that encouraged her to enter the veterinary industry.

Away from the clinic Paula loves spending time with her Staffordshire Terrier x Rottweiler Billie and Cavoodle Max.

Rachel Huculak - veterinary nurse/ puppy pre-school trainer

  • Certificate III in Animal Studies
  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing

Rachel joined our team in November 2016. In 2013 she completed Certificate III in Animal Studies and went on to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing over 2014 and 2015. Prior to working with us she spent two and a half years working in a smaller clinic.

She has always had a passion for animals and has always wanted to have a career that involves her love for them. She hopes to further her studies and see what else the veterinary nursing industry has in store for her.

Outside of work Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travelling, going to the movies and having a relaxing day at home on the couch with her fur baby Chico, a rescued Jack Russell X.

Stephanie james - Trainee Veterinary Nurse/ puppy pre-school trainer

Carlton Vet Surgery - Vet Nurse Stephanie

In March 2016 we welcomed a new addition to the nursing team, Stephanie. Stephanie began part time with us and will be juggling her new position with her nursing studies as well as doing some of her training at one of our sister clinics.

Like all of our nurses, Stephanie has a particular soft spot for our feline friends and has her own fur baby, Kingston, a domestic long hair cat who was also featured as our Patient of the Month in April.

Outside of work Stephanie loves to keep active and enjoys keeping fit, rock climbing and heading to the slopes every snow season. But she does appreciate a healthy life balance and is quite partial to spending the day on the couch with Kingston and Netflix.
